Blue Cap Celebrates One Year of Success in the new Senior Day Program
Our population is aging and this means more and more baby boomers are becoming responsible for helping to ensure that their parents have proper care. When you become one of the millions of people who are responsible for caring for the elderly, you want to ensure that your parent or loved one is still enjoying a healthy and fulfilling life.
At Blue Cap, we face a similar challenge of caring for an aging population. The difference is that the individuals we are caring for also have intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Recognizing this need, Blue Cap introduced a newly inducted Senior Day Program to its wide array of services for individuals with disabilities. Blue Cap's Senior Day Program offers older individuals the opportunity to retain their current life skills while embracing their golden years in a familiar setting.
The individuals in Blue Cap's Senior Day Program benefit from a smaller, slower-paced environment with a lower individual-to-staff ratio focusing on interests and needs of the "Senior" Program.
Some of the highlights of the new Senior Day Program include:
Providing older individuals more opportunities to self-direct their day;
Promoting life-skill retention; and
Offering a comfortable and relaxing setting.
The Seniors in the Program enjoy the following activities:
Sensory
Arts & Crafts
Senior Social Circle
Exercise
Community Outings
Music Therapy
Cooking Classes
We look forward to many more years of service to our Seniors!
